About us
The past is our
inheritance,
not our home.
We do not begin without a history.
We come from a great inheritance left by those who thought, resisted and organised before us; by those who won and those who lost. We neither reject nor sanctify this body of thought and experience, stretching from Marxism to anarchism, from feminist struggle to ecological thought.
Because claiming the past does not mean repeating it.
Yesterday’s concepts help us understand today, but we cannot answer today’s questions by reciting yesterday’s answers. Capital is changing. Labour is changing. Technology, power, war, our relationship with nature and everyday life are changing.
Theory must change too.
That is why we will not try to appear “new” by picking a fight with the past. Nor will we retreat into the past and try to make the present resemble it.
We will inherit.
We will criticise.
We will transform.
And, when necessary, we will develop new concepts.
Because the new cannot be built without memory.
But neither can the future be built by living in the past.
Without denying the old, without living in it.
OUR INVITATION.
This is our invitation to those who want to ask new questions instead of repeating settled answers; who can engage with other traditions without abandoning their own; who see theory as a living tool for understanding and changing the world, rather than a declaration of identity:
Write. Discuss. Challenge. Contribute.
We do not have to think alike.
We have to think together.
With what we have inherited from the past, let us think together about what has yet to be thought.
ANAKRONİK
Against the times, together.
